History
Founded by shopping mall developer Edward J. DeBartolo Sr., Remington Park was built as a premier horse racing venue for Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing.
- 1988: Officially opened with a unique wax-polymer synthetic track surface called Equitrack, which ultimately failed to withstand Oklahoma’s warm summers and was replaced with a traditional dirt track in the early 1990s.
- 2001: Night racing was introduced after a complete lighting system was installed.
- 2004: Oklahoma voters passed State Question 712, allowing for the expansion into casino operations.
- 2005: A 40,000 sq ft casino, featuring 750 electronic gaming machines, was constructed and opened to the public.
- 2010: Global Gaming RP, a subsidiary of the Chickasaw Nation, purchased the facility out of bankruptcy and began extensive refurbishments, including a large high-definition video board and the establishment of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
- Today, it remains a leading destination for horse racing and gaming, contributing significantly to the state’s education fund.
