Del Mar Race 6 The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile 5 Furlongs Turf Sprint
6 Intricate Spirit: Record 3: 2-1-0 Impressive in all three starts, this horse won his first race in a five-and-a-half-furlong maiden at Saratoga on August 1st. He rated 3 to 4 wide on the turn in second place, gained the lead at the top of the stretch, started to run greenly and drifted out a bit. His Jockey Joel Rosario got him back to business and he dug in and drew off, winning by three and a half lengths. He beat Turf Star, who won his next race and subsequently finished second in the Grade 2 Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes on October 5th at Keeneland. Turf Star is also entered in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Mile Turf. Intricate Spirit finished a game second, beaten three-quarters of a length by Streat Beast at Kentucky Downs. Streat Beast then won his next race by seven lengths in the One Million Dollar Tote Juvenile Mile Stakes. Streat Beast is my top pick for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Mile Turf.
9 True Love: Record 6: 3-3-0 Speedy Filly Trained by Aidan O’Brien. True Love was an impressive winner of the Grade 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Beat the Colts by 5 lengths in the Grade 2 Railway Stakes. True Love is the horse to beat.
12 Lennilu: Record 5: 4-0-1 She has the best Beyers figure of this field from last race, beating the colts. Ran a game 3rd to True Love at Ascot in the Grade 2 Queen Mary Stakes.
